FHI Walks with Water Mission: Over 4,500 Unite for Charleston's 2025 Walk for Water

At FHI, we believe in putting our values into action. On Saturday, March 29th, our team joined more than 4,500 participants at the 2025 Walk for Water in Charleston, South Carolina — an event hosted by Water Mission, a nonprofit dedicated to building safe water solutions in developing countries and disaster zones.

What began nearly two decades ago as a small community walk with just 35 participants has now become a global movement. This year’s walk was not only the largest to date — it also raised more than $600,000, providing access to clean, safe water for communities around the world.

FHI was proud to be part of that impact.

We weren’t just walking through Charleston’s Riverfront Park. We were walking in solidarity with millions of people around the world — many of them women and children — who make that same walk every single day, not by choice, but out of necessity. And unlike the buckets of clean water we carried along the walk route, their daily reality is often filled with water that is unsafe, contaminated, and life-threatening.

For FHI, this was more than a community event. It was a tangible expression of who we are and what we stand for.

“It’s humbling,” said Will Seel, FHI’s VP of Business Development. “When you consider that millions of people walk every day just to access water — often unsafe water — it puts our own work and daily challenges into perspective. Supporting Water Mission aligns with our belief that real impact starts with service.”

The walk simulates the journey many families around the world make every day — often for hours — just to bring water home. Participants walk a 3.5-mile route carrying buckets of water, physically experiencing what is a daily hardship for millions.

As our team walked together, side by side with community members, church groups, students, and companies from across the region, we reflected on the power of unity and purpose. Every step we took symbolized hope, change, and the idea that a better future is possible — and that it starts with action.

“Leadership is about more than results — it’s about responsibility,” added Chad Eudy, FHI’s Senior VP of Leadership Development. “Events like this remind us why we lead. We’re not just building strong teams at FHI; we’re committed to building a better world, one where no one has to walk for water.”

That commitment is core to how we operate. Whether it’s delivering high-performance labor solutions to the nation’s largest distribution centers or walking for a global cause, we know that leadership starts with showing up — with integrity, with compassion, and with purpose.

Our team left the event energized, inspired, and reminded that the work we do — both inside and outside our business — matters. And we’re not alone in that belief.

Water Mission is leading incredible work around the world, currently serving communities in 60+ countries. Their solutions are sustainable, community-led, and focused on long-term change. FHI is proud to support that mission, and we encourage others in our industry to get involved too. Because when companies commit to something bigger than the bottom line, amazing things happen.

Looking around at the crowd of thousands — young children, retirees, executives, and neighbors — we saw firsthand how one small act of solidarity can scale into a movement. It was proof that the real strength of a community comes from walking together.
